Sonia Blumstein

Vice President of Marketing and Corporate Communications

“Creativity is knowledge having fun.” – Albert Einstein

Sonia’s passion for communications and marketing inspires our brand and positions our insurance professionals to creatively share their expertise and technical knowledge.

If insurance is both a science and an art, then her diverse background — ranging from advertising to public policy — brings the right blend of technical and creative savvy. In fact, we call her our “crayon cheerleader,” because she leads a team that effectively uses visual storytelling to help our customers get the most out of S.S. Nesbitt’s unique consulting processes.

Sonia came to S.S. Nesbitt from Intermark Group, a top regional advertising agency in Birmingham, Alabama. There she contributed to marketing initiatives for high-profile clients such as The University of Alabama at Birmingham’s School of Health Professions; Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama; TenCate; St. Vincent’s Health System; Bud’s Best Cookies; and other B2B and B2C brands.

She previously operated her own communications firm while on retainer with PRoactive Solutions Inc., where she represented national public policy clients around the country. Prior to that, she was headquartered in Washington, D.C., and served as director of media and marketing and congressional affairs liaison for an economic think tank, The Institute for Policy Innovation.

Sonia is passionate about seeing women reach their God-given potential. In her personal time, she organizes women’s small groups and serves as the Women’s Ministry Hub Leader for the Riverchase campus of Church of the Highlands. In this role, she organizes a cardio kickboxing/hip-hop program with instructors across the metro area who offer a workout combined with Bible study.

Sonia earned her Master of Arts in Political Management from Regent University’s Washington, D.C., campus, where she served as a Master’s Fellow. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Howard Payne University in Brownwood, Texas, where she was a member of the Douglas MacArthur Academy of Freedom and a Hatton W. Sumners Scholar.

Sonia is a native Houstonian but has lived in Alabama for over 11 years. She’s been married to her D.C. sweetheart for over a decade and has two young children who are only one grade apart … plus one very spoiled doxie, “Truman.”
