Linda Buchanan
Account Manager – Employee Benefits

Cooper JohnsonLinda joined S.S. Nesbitt & Co., Inc. in 2008 with the acquisition of ANB Insurance Services. She has 25 years experience in individual and group benefits, working with both insurance companies and brokerage firms. Linda specializes in ancillary benefits, including plan design and financial analysis, as well as health and risk management. She works with the employee benefits team to develop new business and retain existing clients through superior account service. She is a licensed life and health producer and a member of Life Office Management (LOMA). Linda attended Southern Institute in Birmingham.

Cooper Johnson, CLU
Vice President/Employee Benefits

Cooper JohnsonCooper develops and implements Employee Benefit Programs for commercial clients. Through this, he builds long-term relationships by providing quality insurance products. Cooper provides innovative improvements to the plan, along with creating ways to reduce the cost of providing benefits. By having a close working relationship with clients, Cooper is able to retain a consistent client base.

Cooper has been in the insurance business for seven years. He obtained a bachelor’s degree from the University of Alabama in 1998 and a master’s in business administration from the University of Alabama in Birmingham in 2002. Cooper received the Chartered Life Underwriter Designation in 2008.

Ashley Madden
Account Manager

Asley MaddenAshley joined S.S. Nesbitt in June 2007 with the acquisition of ANB Insurance Services. She serves as Account Manager in the Employee Benefits division of the company. Prior to joining S.S. Nesbitt, Ashley worked in the Group Benefits Department of Lincoln Financial in Charlotte, North Carolina. Her primary duties include, but are not limited to, account marketing and renewals, conducting employee enrollment meetings, customer service and negotiating account proposals with preferred carriers. She holds a life and health insurance agent license and is the daily contact for addressing the employee benefits needs of most clients.

Alan Wood, CMA
Senior Vice President
Employee Benefits Division

Alan WoodAlan joined ANB Insurance Services in 2001 to start and build the employee benefits division. His expertise in employee benefits includes medical, dental, life, disability, vision, long-term care and executive benefits. Alan’s strengths are in designing benefit plans that meet the specific needs of employees and helping employers accomplish their goals.

Alan’s start in the insurance business came in 1988 with The Equitable, where he worked as an agent and registered representative for four years. After leaving to work a few years in the software industry, Alan re-entered the insurance world in 2000 as a consultant for TPC Benefits. He worked with TPC until joining ANB in 2001 and became part of S.S. Nesbitt when the company acquired ANB in 2007. Alan holds an accounting degree from Auburn University, an MBA from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, earned the CMA (certified management accountant) designation in 1986.
